At the beginning of the St. Louis Cardinals Spring camp, it was reported that their catcher extraordinaire, Yadier Molina, would continue workouts even though cleared for full duty post knee surgery in December.

He, and fellow teammate, Marcell Ozuna (shoulder surgery) would be placed in the line-ups early Spring as designated hitters. Also, from Cardinals manager, Mike Shildt, Yadi was scheduled to return behind the plate for Spring games, Thursday, March 14.

Molina has been hitting (DH) in squad games on the back field of the Roger Dean complex. He also has worked behind the plate for starters Adam Wainwright and Miles Mikolas. His first outing was shortened due to some discomfort in his repaired knee - "didn't feel quite right", per Molina. However, was fine his second outing catching Mikolas.

He made his Spring game debut on Friday in Game 1 against the Washington Nationals as DH. Slugged out a single and added a run for the Cardinals. A bit concerned as to 'running' the bags, reports ~ "I'm 100% good. My knee feels better than last season". Good news to say the least.

MOLINA AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

As of yesterday, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports Molina will catch Adam Wainwright (0-0/3.60 ERA) today, Saturday, March 9. He is five days ahead of his projected schedule. Wainwright will make his third Spring start with Molina, his Spring debut, behind the plate for four innings.

The Cardinals dynamic duo of 13 seasons will be back together again.
