East takes an early lead in the first with a solo homer by Pete Alonso. Wasn't until the bottom of the third, Evan Florial tripled and the West tied with a RBI sac-fly by Keston Hiura, bring Florial in for the score.

The West held a 5-3 lead until the eighth. Phillies Austin Listi (OF) crunched out a 3-hole shot in the eighth to give the East a one run lead, 6-5, over the West.

The West comes back with a walk-off win.

"The West Division wins the 13th Fall Stars Game, 7-6, over the East Division in a back-and-forth tilt. The @Padres' Buddy Reed hits a game-tying RBI triple in the ninth and Meibrys Viloria, of the @Royals, smacks a [two out] WALK-OFF RBI single, scoring Buddy from third." (Arizona Fall League Twitter).

FINAL SCORE: East 6 - West 7 Buddy Reed was named Fall Stars Game MVP.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Cardinals-Surprise Saguaros LHP Even Kruczynski gave the West two one-hit scoreless innings, 17-11/PC-ST, early in the game. In the third, a great grab for a double play by Lucius Fox. He was the only pitcher to go multiple innings for the West and only faced six hitters.

Great game played by both teams and an enjoyable watch to see up and coming prospects on the field. Congratulations to the West Division as Arizona Fall League ~ Fall Star Champions.

PERSONAL NOTE:

The one thing I so enjoy about the minor league fall classic is that the outcome really is not about one team as the MLB World Series is. This is about young players putting forth their very best effort from collective affiliate MLB teams to get the win. This is their biggest performance for the scouts to observe. This is their audition for the Bigs.

The MiLB 2018 Championship Game will be played at Scottsdale Stadium, November 17.

SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS and Thanks To Steve Cobb ~ Only the best to him in his retirement.

Statement from Arizona Fall League Twitter:

"After 26 years as President of the Arizona Fall League, Steve Cobb will retire after this year's Championship Game. Words cannot describe how grateful so many players, umpires, and front office executives are to have received tutelage from him. All we can say now is thank you."

And quite the game for his 'send off'.
