It was reported early in the offseason, that St. Louis Cardinals catcher, Yadier Molina, would have surgery. In the scheme of "surgeries", minor compared to some. He had microscopic surgery and a small bone in his knee was removed that had been bothering him for quite some time. That was approximately 10 days ago.

Now, Cardinals extraordinary catcher reports, he's doing well. And, if all goes as it should, Molina will be ready for day one of the 2019 Spring Training.

Plus, any of us who are Cardinals fans and so very familiar with our Yadier, the "Goat" will not be kept down long. He will do all that is required to make sure he's ready ~ good to go by mid-February. Even though, I'm sure the organization will work him into the Spring line-up as they deem is he 'ready'. And, personally, I would rather he be held out the first portion of "Spring" to see a full regular season without incident.

Per the article by Brian Stull, St. Louis Baseball Weekly, Molina is on board with the Cardinals recent transactions for 1B Paul Goldschmidt, LHP Andrew Miller and, presuming, to have Francisco Pena to return as his back-up.

As most know, Molina has two seasons left on his current contract. And I believe, he will take each game that his given him and go from there to see what happens. However, he stated, "If St. Louis wants no more, I will retire. I won't play for another team".

After 15 seasons with the Cardinals and only the Cardinals, his accomplishments are Hall of Fame worthy - Nine time National League All Star, nine time NL Golden Glove Award winner, five time NL MVP contender and a NL Silver Slugger Award to his resume; along with, a career (thus far) 15,388.1 innings played. I know our 36 year old Field General still has goals set for himself.

He has been an amazing backstop and ~ It IS hard to keep an old goat down. After all, he is the one and only, Yadier Molina.

We have a schedule for the Cardinals caravan which will begin January 18, 2019 ~ Six cities in a four day period. As of yet, alumni, players and emcee for each is yet to be determined. However, mark your calendar for the city nearest you.
